First Sponsor of the 2012 Tour de Dickinson

The Tour de Dickinson Bike Ride is scheduled to take place on August 18, 2012 and is now organized and coordinated by the Dickinson County Bike Path Committee.  For the past five years, the event was orchestrated by the Dickinson County Hospital Foundation.  The Dickinson County Bath Path Committee is dedicated to creating a county-wide bike path that would be linked together across all of Dickinson County area. The highly attended and much anticipated bike ride will require many volunteers and assistance from the community to make this year’s event a success.  Shown above (center) is Bob Werner, President of the DC Bike Path receiving the first sponsorship check of $500 to help support the fundraising efforts for TdD from Russ Kassin (left) and Steve Faust (right) of the First National Bank & Trust Co. The sponsorship by various companies, businesses, and individuals is greatly appreciated. The annual event draws bike riders and tourists to our community from all over the Midwest and many riders schedule their vacations around attending the Tour de Dickinson.  The event is also held in conjunction with the “Italian Fest” held in downtown Iron Mountain later the same day.  With the paid registration fee to TdD, all riders and volunteers are given a bracelet pass for free admission to Italian Fest.
All money goes to support the bike paths many activities including path/trail development and maintenance. We are a 501 (c) 3 volunteer organization that is trying to promote tourism, economic development, and a healthier living area. If you would like further information about volunteer opportunities or bike path information, please contact Bob Werner at (906) 779-9712 or Ginni Henke at:  dougginni@uplogon.com.  You can also register on-line this year for the first time at www.active.com or www.dcbikepath.org
